My Escape turned business

I have always felt I had a connection to makeup. My parents immigrated to the US from The Dominican Republic and the first jobs they had here were in cosmetics factories. It was their stepping stone into being able to have the experience necessary to move on to other jobs and eventually be able to start their own businesses before I was born. Growing up, I always loved all mediums of art. I remember being 13 years old and discovering YouTube and the makeup community. It was a whole new world of creativity that I could tap into. Using makeup became a hobby to express my creativity. Eventually, when I ended up in this abusive relationship, watching makeup videos and being creative became my escape. It calmed me and made me happy during times that I struggled. I love how makeup has the power to make anyone feel beautiful and confident about themselves, it really helps their inner beauty shine through. My dream would be to one day be able to combine my passions; makeup, helping others and advocating against domestic abuse. I would like to create a cosmetics brand where part of the proceeds would go towards domestic violence organizations and shelters but also, giving individuals a tool to express themselves through creativity.
